Editorial - November 2014
Dear Colleagues,
As mentioned in the last newsletter, NA62 has just started to take data for the first time after years of hard work preparing the experiment. They will learn a lot from the data taken this year, ready to start the hunt for the extremely rare K+ → π+ν ̅ν decay, which will continue at full speed next year.
In this edition, in addition to a status report from them, we have an article describing the preparation of the scintillating fibre tracker for the upgrade of LHCb, and the TPC upgrade for ALICE, which are due to be ready at the time of the next long shutdown of the LHC in 2018. Looking even further ahead, there is also a report on the recent meeting on High-Luminosity LHC, and plenty more.
Let me finish by congratulating the successful candidate for DG-elect, Fabiola Gianotti, who will have the challenging task of steering CERN choices into the HEP scientific future. We in PH, count on, and are confident in her vision.
I wish you pleasant reading.
