Superconducting Magnets

Towards an FCC-hh Detector Magnet System

by Erwin Bielert, on behalf of the FCC-hh detector magnet working group

A new design for the FCC-hh detector magnet: towards a smaller, simpler and especially more cost-effective solution.

Superconducting Magnets for Particle Detectors

by Akira Yamamoto (LCC, KEK, CERN), Panos Charitos (FCC, CERN)

Experimental particle physics at the energy frontier has been performed with colliding beam accelerators and particle detectors. Superconducting magnets for these detectors and for physics experiments including astroparticle physics have much advanced in the past years based on the applications of superconductivity.

Recently, members of the EP department came up with a conceptual detector magnet design for the  Future Circular Collider-hh study. This is largely based on a “Twin Solenoid” design that features two concentric superconducting solenoids to cope with the requirements of the FCC-hh study.
